Publisher's Description

AVG LinkScanner provides an advanced layer of security against fast-moving, invisible web threats, and hacked web sites. It verifies the safety of web pages you visit, and of links returned from web searches (Google, Yahoo! and MSN), so you know how safe/unsafe a page is at the time you attempt to click on it.

AVG LinkScanner is already part of all of AVG´s award-winning security products, protecting 80m people Worldwide. Now it’s available on its own to run alongside your current anti-virus software and provide an additional, invisible layer of protection that lets you search and surf safely.

Features:

  • Real-time scanning of links you click on, so you can be sure you are protected from the latest hacked or exploited websites.
  • Emphasis on analysis of each web page you visit instead of the web site.
  • Automatic upgrades whenever the threat intelligence network finds a new threat.

FreewareFiles tested AVG LinkScanner 2012.1913 on 2012-01-31 using leading antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.

Pros:  Unlike a previous review, I have not had any problems running AVG LinkScanner 2011 with my antivirus product. I'm using LinkScanner in conjunction with the free version of Avira -- and both products work flawlessly with each other. AVG LinkScanner works very well indeed: I've been using it for about two months now and it's run perfectly and it's intercepted and prevented about a dozen malware attacks so far. So, I highly recommend that you download it and give it a try.

Cons:  I don't have any real cons regarding AVG LinkScanner. As I've mentioned, it's worked flawlessly for me.

Other Thoughts:  Definitely give it a try on your computer. The extra layer of spyware/malware protection is worth it.
