This is the place you go when Windows XP or Windows 7 search just doesn't cut it anymore. This program combines extreme capacity with remarkable ease-of-use.
The features of Agent Ransack that make it my favorite search tool include the ability to find strings in files, powerful regular expressions to precisely tailor your search, and the ability to right-click on a drive or folder to search within it (if you're running Windows 7 x64, go to http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-software/15272-add-context-menu-item-agent-ransack-2.html, post #18 to set up the context menu).
Agent Ransack wasn't designed to do everything. Windows 7 search is faster, sorts results by category, and handles music and other multimedia files well. But what it doesn't do - and there's a lot it doesn't do - Agent Ransack does very well indeed.
Agent Ransack is, in short, worth paying good money for. |
