"Nice idea, but unplayable as of version 2.1"

Other Thoughts:  The idea of making Chess in 3D is not new (I even saw a 6D version of chess). However, this 3D version seems fine in its concept. The bad thing is that I couldn't play it. The game takes place in a 8x8x8 cube. However, only one layer of such cube is visible at any given time. My imagination is not strong enough to keep the whole cube in memory while I can see only one layer of it.
This game ought to be 3D and use OpenGL, DirectX or some other engine, so that the player could rotate the board to clearly see what is going on. At the very least it could be isometric and allow to view the field from a fixed set of angles, but it wouldn't be friendly enough that way.
Also, I was very much annoyed to be unable to make the first e4 move before reading that 2-tile moves are forbidden for pawns. Illegal moves should bring up a message box saying 'This move is illegal: pawns can't move 2 tiles' and so on.
A game with such a new concept must have a tutorial or at least a manual where strategy tips were described in much detail. At its current state of development (v2.1) it is absolutely unplayable.
