Publisher's Description

DIKO is an automation tool to convert video to DVD and SVCD, allowing to reach up to 6 hours in 1 DVD-R or 2 hours in 1 SVCD.

For each step of this conversion, there´s an optimal way to do it and a optimal software (generally freeware) to use. But using all softwares and learning each step to do an optimal conversion is a time consuming task in two aspects: you have to spend a lot of time learning to use the tools and you have to be around to run each tool.

DIKO is like a super speciallized robot that does the all the calculations, decides what is best qualitywise and gives the right orders to all tools, aiming to get excellent video quality. DIKO is 100% freeware, and everything it needs is also freeware and bundled in the install package.

What's New in version 2.47:

  • DVDStyler (finally) updated to 1.7.1 (official build!)
  • AVI files can be opened with...

FreewareFiles tested DIKO Free 2.47 on 2009-03-23 using leading antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.

Pros:  None

Cons:  None

Other Thoughts:  Although this program may do as it states, there is a much better way to do your movies.

ANY time you convert movies, you always lose quality. Might be small, but you always lose.

That said, why not get an external harddisk, back up all your movies to it, or burn then as data dvd to save em all?

That way, just run a vid straight from your pc video card out to your tv.

No quality loss, no worrying how to reconvert the dvd in the future (& lose quality again, trying to convert it back to pc).

In fact, why have a regular dvd player? If you have a computer with a dvd drive, did you know the freeware DVD shrink can act like a cheap (as in free) dvd player?

F11 to full screen the movie, or from the options at the top. No limitations, like on normal set top dvd, any file the computer plays, you get the picture.

That said, this program is overall, a decent program, if you are looking to convert (& lose quality) your vids!
