You may want to resize the partition on your computer as a way of managing your storage space, which is only one of the situations when Free Partition Manager will come in handy. The powerful and free partition manager has many features that make it quite versatile.

Features at a Glance

  • Resize and move partition
  • Quick and safe hard disk repartition
  • Professional disk conversion
  • Disk clone
  • Lost partition recovery
  • Compatible with removable storage devices

Using Free Partition Manager

The program's graphical user interface was divided into several sections: menu and tool bars at the top, operations pane on the left and partitions display to the right. Resizing or moving a partition was as simple as selecting the required partition on the right and selecting the "Move/Resize Partition" on the left pane or from the toolbar.

The partition bar displayed the partition size in blue with unallocated space displayed as a blank area on the bar. The partition size was also shown in megabytes below the bar. Please note that you should back up your partition data prior to performing the resizing or moving operation.

Setting the size and position of the new partition is as easy as moving the slider on the partition bar. We shrank or extended a partition by either shortening or lengthening the handle to occupy less or more space. When we wanted to move a partition, we dragged the whole partition towards the unallocated space. We then simply clicked the "Apply" button.

We could edit such partition details as partition type and serial number in addition to hiding, revealing and setting active partition. Other things that we could do included deleting partitions, wiping all data on a partition, copying partition, recovering lost partition, merging and converting partitions.

Conclusion

Free Partition Manager is a useful program for managing the space on hard disks in various ways. The all-in-one partition manager allows you to perform many tasks using different Windows operating systems from Windows Vista.

USER REVIEWS

"Cannot resize the boot partition"

Reviewer: -Henry

Review Date: 2017-01-13

Pros: Easy to use. Can resize non-boot partitions.

Cons: The freeware version does not support resizing the boot partition. But the paid version's spec does not state that it can resize the boot partition either.

Other Thoughts: Put it to worse situation: after purchasing the paid version, maybe you still can't resize the boot partition,
