HTML Scanner is a freeware program that searches local and network html files for a specified keyword. The results are displayed in a Google-like page with a file snippet. Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher required for it to work. The current version is 0.996.

FreewareFiles tested HTML Scanner 0.996 on 2005-01-12 using leading antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.

Other Thoughts: This program has a simple interface but is very powerful. It not only finds a word or words in HTML files but also lists them for review in it's own browser or your browser. That's not all; it finds and lists all the graphics (including animated gifs)and displays them for you. It's a great program for those who have lots of HTML or web pages on their computer and for those who have web site pages to edit. This is not for everybody but for those who need a search application for web pages only, this is the one to get! :)
