Software Product Description

HTTrack is a free (open source) and easy-to-use offline browser utility.

It allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the Internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer.

HTTrack arranges the original site's relative link-structure. Simply open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack can also update an existing mirrored site, and resume interrupted downloads. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system.

"NORTON rejected"

Reviewer: -TomSJr

Review Date: 2017-05-20

Pros: Nice that it is portable, but................

Cons: While unzipping the downloaded file, Norton rejected every single DLL and EXE, removed them and labeled them as UNSAFE. Don't know why, but Norton has always steered me in the right direction, so I trust them. I will do further checking, but there is some code in these files that open up ports that should not be open and therefore, that is suspicious.

Other Thoughts: I realize that freewarefiles.com does an excellent job of scanning these files, but as a retired Software Engineer, viewing the inside of a few of these DLLs was disheartening. Ports are opened that SHOULD NOT BE OPENED for the average user UNLESS you have a 2nd firewall, which I do and this is initially how I caught the problems this software was initiating, which suggests that something nefarious may be going on here, so I will have to get rid of this one.
