Wouldn't it be great if you could share the fast Internet connection on your computer with other devices? This is exactly what HostedNetworkStarter is designed to do. The simple and user-friendly application will help you use your wireless network adapter to create a WiFi hotspot that lets other WiFi-enabled devices use the Internet connection on your computer.

Using HostedNetworkStarter

Being a portable application, we simply downloaded the software and extracted its contents to our desired folder from where we launched it. The application did not require any other DLL file to run.

When we launched the executable file, it quickly opened the main program interface and immediately followed it with a pop up window where we specified hosted network options. We entered our chosen network name or SSID and network key. A check box allowed us to enable the 'persistent key' option, which let the application automatically use the key when the 'Network Key' slot was empty.

We had three options when storing the network key within the .cfg file. We then selected the connection whose network and Internet we wanted to share and the maximum number of connected devices. The default value was 10.

We clicked the 'Start' button and the configuration window disappeared, leaving the main application window displaying information about created hotspot. The general statistics on the upper pane listed 16 different items, among of which were hosted network state, MAC address, transmit and receive link speeds, sent and received bytes and packets and three slots for displaying found errors. On the lower pane, we saw the list of clients connected to the hotspot at any particular time.

We could select items and either copy or save them. The context menu also allowed us to generate HTML reports for selected or all items in addition to choosing or auto sizing columns.

System Requirements:

  • Windows 7 or newer operating system
  • Wireless network adapter with support for WiFi hosted network
