Using Macgo Free Media Player

The player's main user interface featured two prominent buttons for opening files and discs respectively. Above the buttons was a link that took us to the developer's website with offers on other products. We used the "Open File" button first to play different media files saved on our computer. The free media player handled various file types well, including mobile video and audio formats like 3GP and 3GPP.

The first time we used the program to open a DVD disc, it required us to select a region for our DVD drive, with the option to change the region five more times. It displayed a world map divided into five different regions, and we selected the appropriate region and then clicked the "Set Region" button.

During playback, the software displayed "Now Playing" and file name if available on the lower left part of the user interface. The button for playing either full screen or restoring window was on the opposite side. Next to it was the volume slide bar, which went from zero to 200 percent. However, we were not restricted to using those buttons to perform their respective functions.

The "Controls" menu allowed us to perform various things such as selecting next, previous, title or chapter depending on the media we were playing. We could also synchronize either audio tracks or subtitles tracks if they were out of sync. In the "Video" menu, we could change size of the video and its aspect ratio, crop, de-interlace and select or disable video and subtitle tracks. The "Audio" menu allowed us to select audio device and channel in addition to selecting or disabling audio track.

The player also made it easy to take snapshots either via the "Tools" menu or using keyboard shortcut by pressing Ctrl+Alt+S. It saved the snapshots on the desktop by default, but we could select any other destination we wanted under "Preferences". We could also configure playback, video, audio, subtitles and general preferences.

We could minimize the program window, let it play in the background or float it on top of any other program we opened.

Conclusion

Macgo Free Media Player is a versatile player for Windows that is compatible with almost all media formats, including streaming media. It provides different ways of adjusting and controlling the played file, and it supports many keyboard shortcuts. If there is need, you can even use it to play multiple files simultaneously.
