Microsoft Photo Info allows photographers to add, change and delete common "metadata" properties for digital photographs from inside Windows Explorer.

When installed, a new "Photo Info" item appears on the context menu for files selected in Windows Explorer. To use, simply select one or more image fiiles, right-click and choose "Photo Info" to open the Photo Info properties editor. You can edit metadata for files individually, or all together as a batch. Photo Info reads and writes metadata in IPTC and XMP formats (depending on file type). It also provides enhanced "hover tips" and additional sort properties for digital photographs in Windows Explorer.

Microsoft Photo Info runs on 32-bit versions of Windows XP (with Service Pack 2 or later) and the Windows Vista operating systems.

Requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.

Other Thoughts: After their respective authors abandoned development of PixVue and Exifer, I've searched for a proper solution and found it at Microsoft. Now I use it on daily basis.

Req: .NET 2.0 should be installed. Your Windows should pass Genuine Advantage test.

Pro: It is nice program, which edits IPTC and XMP simultaneously. It is capable of editing pictures one by one or a bunch of pictures at once (collection). It covers enough IPTC tags to be usefull, including author and copyright related. Can change the date of the picture(s) taken by specified amount of time.

Contra: There are some small but annoying bugs (eg. key "A, B" is translated in two keys, key A and key B). It is not possible to set which keys should be taken into account when changing multiple photos.
