Programmers Tool v1.3.4 New
FREEWAREFILES EDITOR'S REVIEW
If you commonly perform certain tasks on your computer, then you can use Programmer's Tool to set hot-keys that help you perform the tasks quickly. The application typically stays out of sight in the System Tray.
Using Programmer's Tool
When we launched Programmer's Tool after its smooth installation, it placed its icon on the System Tray without opening any window. We double-clicked the icon to open the application window, which had tabs on a pane on the left side. Alternatively, we could open the window by right-clicking on the icon and then clicking the "Options" menu.
In the "General" tab, we could set the program to start with Windows and add the applications that we wanted to run when the program launched. We could also configure it to play audio when displaying notifications and select the folder for storing settings.
The "Shorcut keys" tab allowed us to configure the shortcuts that we wanted to use to perform various actions, such as launching or activating applications, which then gave us appropriate steps to take. When we wanted to set a keyboard shortcut for launching an application, for example, we needed to specify the path to the application. We simply used Windows Explorer to browse and select the application. We could also optionally add command-line arguments and working directory. We then configured the shortcut key that we wanted to use to launch the application.
Our tests proved that the configured hot-keys were effective in performing required tasks.
Other shortcuts that we could configure were for:
- Sending text to an open application
- Bringing an application to the foreground
- Copying text to the Clipboard
The Clipboard commands that we could configure included copying text to the Clipboard, copying current date to the Clipboard and removing formatting and pasting Clipboard text.
Programmer's Tool is a handy application that helps users to quickly launch frequently used programs and perform other regular tasks. You can also configure it to display notifications, which may be accompanied by audio. Once you have made the necessary configurations, the application will stay out of sight in the System Tray.
