Software Product Description

If you have a small WiFi network that you want to protect from intruders, then SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is a suitable tool for you. While modern networks are protected by default, hackers can still take advantage of some weaknesses to compromise your password and remain unnoticed when they have accessed your network. This gives them the opportunity to read or even steal your personal information.

SoftPerfect WiFi Guard will alert you if someone accesses your network. It scans the network at specified intervals and gives a report whenever it detects a newly connected device.

You may need to configure the scanner when you launch it for the first time, such as by setting the number of devices it should scan simultaneously and the interval required for re-scanning, in minutes. You may also configure how you want the program to operate. For example, you may set it to start automatically when you boot your computer, display its icon in the notification area when minimized or automatically check for updates.

You do not have to change the default settings, but you must select the WiFi adapter you would like the program to scan if you have more than one adaptor.

The main program interface has columns displaying MAC and IP addresses of detected devices, round-trip time and hardware vendor. There is a button you can use to scan the network manually.

The scanner marks legitimate devices in green and the unknown ones in red. By default, it will only identify your computer and router as legitimate, but you can mark other devices as "known." You may add comments that make it easy to identify the devices.

Turning the known devices connected to your network off and on will help you identify them in the list and make relevant comments. Once you have marked all known devices, you will easily identify any unknown one using your network.
