Publisher's Description

SplitFile´s goal is to split big file in smaller segments to be able to store them in floppy disks or CD (these are just examples). The main feature if compared to other programs like this, is the ability to support huge files and to being configured to increase performances if used with fast disks.

Features:

  • A lot of size preset (from floppy to DVD-R)
  • You can choose to split the file according to the desiderated size or to the number of parts you need
  • Several units selectable (from bytes to GB)
  • You can choose the read/write buffer to improve performances
  • You can pause the task
  • 2 join methods: through the Graphical User Interface ( GUI ) of this program, or through an executable file that can be used also by who doesn´t have this program
  • You can choose to be asked before overwriting a file that already exists
  • You can directly Split/Join the files in a destination folder different from the source one(to easily find the files) and also on different drives (to speed up the process)

Requires Microsoft .NET Framework.

FreewareFiles tested SplitFile 1.7.0 on 2008-01-09 using leading antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.

Pros:  None

Cons:  None

Other Thoughts:  It works very well, but the big drawback (IMHO) is the lack of shell integration. Should be able to split files according to predefined settings with the right click menu.
