Superpowers for Windows is a free and open source game creator that makes it easy to make both 2-D and 3-D games. It provides a real-time collaboration platform with powerful and intuitive tools.

Using Superpowers for Windows

We downloaded the correct ZIP package for our system, as there were both 32-bit and 64-bit editions. We extracted the content to our chosen destination and started the app by double-clicking on the Superpowers executable file. The program had a user-friendly tabbed graphical user interface.

It displayed a list of servers, including our local server that started immediately. We double-clicked on "My Server" and selected our preferred username. We opened up our server to others for collaboration by setting up a password and restarting the server.

We then sent a link of our public IP address to the colleagues with whom we wanted to collaborate. They simply pasted the link on their browser bars and accessed projects without installing the software.

We started a project by clicking the "New Project" tab and entering a name and description for the project. We then double-clicked on the project's name to open it.

The game creator's editors and other features were in the form of plug-ins, which meant that we could extend its functionality by adding our plug-ins. Our project was composed of folders and assets arranged in tree format. Double-clicking an asset opened its editor, and we could rearrange the assets as we wanted by dragging them.

The TypeScript game logic enabled us to type code when we needed while it stayed out of the way most of the time. Using scene assets allowed us to replace code with visual constructions.

We could work over the Internet with anyone who we had given our public IP and password. However, we did not need an Internet connection when working on a project by ourselves.

Once we had created our game, we had the option of publishing it to any platform that we wanted, including PC, Linux, Android and iOS. We could even run it in a modern web browser.

Conclusion

Superpowers is an intuitive game creator that runs everywhere, just like the web. The game logic is powered by TypeScript, and the software comes with various importers that allow users to publish games to different platforms. The user is the director who commands actors to come on the stage, which costumes they wear and how they should behave.
