SynthFont is a program for editing and playing midi files using various sound source files like SoundFonts, GigaSampler files, SFZ files and more. VST instruments can also be used instead of a sound source file.
The result can be played back through a sound card or written to wave files. With SynthFont you can also create audio files (WAV, MP3, OGG, APE, FLAC) from your MIDI files. SynthFont´s main sound sources are SoundFonts, but also wave files, DLS and GIGA files - and now also VST Instruments - can be used.
SynthFont supports the use of both VST effects and instruments. SynthFont has some basic SoundFont editing capabilities and also shows the MIDI data in a Piano Roll and an Event list. A stand-alone VST instrument version of SynthFont is also available.
What´s New in version 1.640:
Sometimes when you opened a MIDI file A and saved an Arrangement for the previous MIDI file B, the Arrangement would point to A instead of B
Pianoroll playback was not in synch when using loops
SynthFont could not read MIDI files containing a sequence definition chunk
A few other minor bugs also cleared
Changed the Low Pass Filter algorithm. The new one is faster and closer to Creative lab? SoundBlaster implementation. This filter has only one slope, so the slope parameter has been removed
The shape of the Modulation Envelope Attack phase has changed: instead of linear it is now concave with a very steep initial rise. This is close to the SoundBlaster implementation. Also some other Modulation Envelope features have been tuned
The SoundFont history list now only displays the SoundFont file name and not the whole path
FreewareFiles tested SynthFont 1.640 on 2013-03-26 using leading
antivirus scanners and found it 100% Clean. It does not contain any form
of malware, spyware, viruses, trojans, etc. We will re-test each updated
version and remove the award as well as the program if found infected.
Other Thoughts: Synthfont is amazing. I use tux-guitar (freeware) to compose in multi-track, then synthfont does the job of giving my music more realism. Many many thaks to the developers - I'll be donating soon.
