On July 29, 2015, Microsoft officially released Windows 10, which is really the last version of the popular operating system. From here onwards, users will receive updates free of charge for as long as their systems can accommodate them. This is the most personal Windows operating system with some special features.

One of the things that many PC users were unhappy about with Windows 8 was the introduction of a start screen instead of the familiar start button. Microsoft has listened and brought it back. They have also included Cortana bar next to the start button, so users do not have to guess that they should just start typing on the home screen.

Cortana is an intuitive digital personal assistant that works across devices. It becomes more useful and responds better the more you use it. You can use the assistant for many tasks, from setting reminders to getting directions.

Cortana is currently only available for users in the United States, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and China.

Windows 10 does away with Internet Explorer and replaces it with Edge browser. It operates faster right from its launch to loading webpages. You can save webpages to read later, type or write notes directly on preferred pages and share them with others.

An Action Center replaces the charms bar in Windows 8.x. It features buttons for popular system tasks and notifications. Universal apps do not only run on desktops but also on Windows 10 phones and even Xbox.

Windows 10 is compatible with all desktop programs that work with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. However, you may need to update your antivirus software and some low-level system utilities.

Depending on your hardware, you can do many other things with Windows 10, including seamlessly moving between PC and tablet, unlocking your device using facial recognition and streaming games between PC and Xbox One.

In a nutshell, Windows 10 combines the strengths of Windows 7 and Windows 8. You can do things by typing, writing, touching or speaking.
