I use this. I have produced work on it. Only thing missing for me is a MS works filter. It will not open MS works files. No biggie.
Also the Java factor must be considered. Really I say just install Java from site. It helped me. The Java slows loading it seems. Over all very good. Drawing program is helpful for slides.

Have new wireless notebook. Wanted free software similar to "Office Suite." Downloaded and installed perfectly. Has everything I'll need and more: database, presentation, spread shet, word procesing, drawing, and a neat math function program.

I'd been waiting for this release for a long time, and I must say I am highly impressed at the improvements that have been made. The program starts faster (though some say it still isn't fast enough) and integrates seamlessly into my windows enviroment. The addition of a database application, in my opinion, makes this free office suite a serious contender in the office productivity arena. I highly, highly recommend Open Office 2.0 to anyone who is looking for a cheaper alternative to MS Office. Well done!

Everything that MS office has + more (and its better too).
Also a great alternative for "works" platform for those who need compadible file types for "word" and .xls files. PDA formating is easy and useful.

This is not just an outstanding piece of software, it is a FREE outstanding piece of software. I have used many versions of MS Office at work but have never been able to afford a version for home, but with this you CAN have an office suite which seems to be every bit as good as MS office without the massive price tag! I use this on both my Linux machine and my XP machine and it is just superb! The Word processor works flawlessly and has imported every one of the files I have brought home from Office 2003 at work, inculding xml format. I haven't had any problems with the spreadsheet program and the presentation program seems to give Powerpoint a run for its money as well as letting you export in swf (macromedia flash) file format. It saves in a load of different formats, is easy to use and has the ability to save files as .pdf with just the click of a button.
Believe me, I could write for hours about why everyone should have this somewhere on their computer, but don't take my word (no pun intended), go, download, install, enjoy!!! Ooo = just so good!! MS Office = goodbye

Nice. Does everything except the spreedsheet seems to have problems with importing excel script. I really like the fact that OO does not assume the average user is computer inept, and does not need tutors and constant pop up help, unlike MS.
I really like using OO, so hopefully MS won't get out their war drum and attack OO, -and- hopefully we will never see MS-OO.

"Good Alternative"
Some points OOo is better than M$ Office. It supports more file types than M$Office. Works with multiple OS's. One good feature is the one click PDF! And it is totally FREE. Worth the hours or download time.

Probably the best office suite available... I use it primarily for writing religious articles and love the ability of it to convert my documents to PDF files - enables universal distribution...I recommend this program to every one who writes and does its other functions...
