"awesome"

Not all areas are covered in high resolution because the photos
are EXTREMELY expensive to buy
for large areas and in some cases
are not available at all yet. just a couple square miles can run in the thousands of dollars depending on the resolution.

Google did not create this product
originaly, they bought it from a company called Keyhole.

Most of the images were taken
between 2001 and 2005.

The higher altitude images are satellite. the lower ones are
"air photos' taken from planes and helicopters.

===============================
Will not get closer than 5,000 feet altitude.;

I guess I am missing something here. The closest I can get to viewing my location is an alt. of 5,000 ft.
Any closer and it just enlarges the pixels instead of giving more detail. This seems to be a very much a work in progess. Something that seems to be happening a lot lately with Google.

"Best in its class"

Its a satelite imagemapped globe you can spin, zoom-in on, and even angle your perspective so it looks like your looking out of a plane. Its also intuitive and quick (at least where I've used it). Nothing else free of this nature comes close that I've seen.

"Extremely Cool and WoRk Extremely Good"

I swear that this is the coolest Maps I've ever used. It's all in 3D.. but this is not live satelite. It was probably how the Earth really looks like back in 2000 or 2001!! And to all who got problem with it.. maybe you guys should try to download it again.. or Your comp. got the problem Man!!

"Google Globe"

Have had much fun, my kids and I with this program, exploring the world. Very user friendly. Many areas not available in this imaging, but still a great tool.
