I'VE BEEN USING THIS PROGRAM SINCE 2001 WITHOUT ANY TROULBLE ON MULTIPLE LEVELS .
I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT HOW FAST AND VERSITAL IT IS.
I EVEN HAVE INSTALLED IT ON A (CUSTOMER FILE ONLY) COMPUTER 400 TIMES UNDER DIFFERENT PROGAM NAME VARIATIONS. NOT EVER A SINGLE PROBLEM. IT EVEN CREATES THE ICONS.
I CHERRISH THE MOST!
IVE E-MAILED IRFAN PERSONALLY TO EXPRESS MY GRATTITUDE.
I HOPE SOMEDAY A DVD VERSION WILL COME OUT, BUT THAT WOULD BE LIKE ASKING A PURE GOLD PROGRAM TO BE A DIAMOND.
USUALLY I ONLY MAKE FLAMEING COMMENTS , BUT I MUST GIVE CREDIT TO THIS ONE

This app put freeware graphic apps on the map. Can't credit the author enough for that. The guy's a hero. But this app is not the King anymore by any measure. There's some good free stuff out there now. But this is the author made it all happen.

Get the plug-ins and
copy irfanview folder to PortableApps, and include a
copy of msPaint as portable for external bitmap editor, then.
tweak Options, properties
to use your portable copy of msPaint &
zoom 26% (cube-root of 2 = 1.26)
so trippple-zoom = ddouble image
and resample, for quality,
and white backgrounds (not black)
(easier on ink/toner in some
situations)
When reducing color, do not dither;
for resize, use mitchell,
followed by slight sharpen (try 8)
many other more obvious prefs...
