v.3.5, unfortunately is a miss.It looks, the developers' team is absolutely new, just arrived from the Opera Planet...The Bookmarks should be thrown away, forgotten and replaced by the previous version, compatible with the Tab Mix Plus extension.(If you cannot do it any better, don't do it any worse).Even the Tabs are way too much difficult to use now.The increase of speed cannot compensate the overall feeling of the failure. It's a shame, anyway.Firefox could replace IE on the throne. by: breezes | 2 | 2009-07-09 | | | | "Great!"
Firefox is excellent. I will break down how it rates in relation to other popular browsers.
- Internet Explorer / Lots of bugs, tabs crash frequently, uses a lot of mem, always has problems on certain pages with "Internet Explorer encountered such and such an error, are you sure you would like to display pages, yes or no?"
- Firefox / Easy to use, bookmarking, highly customizable, popup blocking, form filling, stable tabs, have had over 1,611 tabs open before with no crashing compared to Internet Explorer crashing on fewer than 20 & even at times as few as 4 tabs. Have even had Internet Explorer 7 & 8 crash on 1 tab! IE is a laugh to use!
- Google Chrome / Fast, appears to be stable, but features that you need are sometimes hidden from view or as easily accessed like as in Firefox. Doesn't have features Firefox does such as ability to CTRL + middle mouse button zoom in or out of web pages (including pictures)
- Safari / Looks nice, works ok, but again, lacks features & customizability. Seems to have problems with certain webpages.
- Opera / Fast, clean, easy to use. Seems to be stable. The second choice after Firefox. Not quite as customizable & not having certain features I consider critical in Firefox.
Below is a listing of the browser I consider to be the best on top, all the way to the worst at the bottom with my comments & grading.
* Firefox / A+ / Frequent updates, stable, nice features, very secure
* Opera / A / Updates (but not frequently) stable, nice features although missing some things I love about Firefox
* Google Chrome / B+ / Clean interface, fast, stable, frequent updates. Still missing things that make Firefox king
* Safari / B / Clean interface, stable, fast. Updates less frequently. Still doesn't have what it takes to compete with Firefox, Opera, or Google Chrome.
* Internet Explorer / D- / Went from easy to use to easy to confuse, updates infrequently compared to the above, NOT stable, NOT secure. Active-X vulnerability is responsible for a LOT of "driveby" malware downloading, then installing just by visiting certain websites! No user interaction, IE clicking ok required. just visiting a website can infect you!
*** Internet Explorer crashes too much to be considered seriously as a browser, in addition to locking up, freezing, slowing down, malware infections, & things I just won't list here!
Firefox is my #1 choice in features, stability, & ease of use followed by Opera, Google Chrome, Safari.
Internet Explorer gets a D- for being a nuisance to use!
Seriously, have seen malware infections drop a ton just by switching people AWAY from any version of IE.
Any of the above browsers other than IE will be more secure, faster, better, but I listed Firefox as number 1 because I haven't seen anything as easy to use, customizable, or that comes as close to having only the essential features where you would expect them to be "right out of the box" on install.
Firefox seems to do the best job of security + hiding advanced features that you can find if you need them, even though even that is easy with their tools/option/tabbed interface! by: Junk Buster | 5 | 2009-07-03 | | | | ""
Lets see if firefox 3.5 is better than google chrome by: | 5 | 2009-07-02 | | | | "best yet"
all the previous reviews are for 3.0 which i reviewed myself. anyway for this version 3.5 i can honestly say its the best yet. the new engine is much smoother and a little quicker. they have fixed the double home page bug which is nice, as it drove me mad in previous versions. if you have a certain theme you like then i would check for compatibility as there are many that dont work but im sure will be updated soon. i was using aero dark which no longer works but gradient blue is a cool replacement. if you are like me and you have altered the settings (if you know what i mean) the good news is this version will hold them. overall its a more stable and faster version and IMO the best yet. certainly better than explorer... by: stuart | 5 | 2009-07-01 | | | | "Fabulous...."
the best 3.0.11 version...... by: prat | 5 | 2009-06-29 | | | | "Breaks ALot"
The problem with alpha, beta, or RC builds is that extensions commonly break.
IMHO, far better to wait for the final version. by: Risk Averter | 1 | 2009-06-18 | | | | "Great!"
See my prior review. I don't feel like typing it all over again.
Long story short, it is fast, stable, secure.
If it runs too slow, you probably have too little ram or a slow processor & desperately need to upgrade.

WORKS GREAT IF YOU KEEP YOUR CASCHE SET AT 10OR 15 MB,OTHERWISE IT WILL OVERLOAD AND SLOW IT DOWN TO A CRAWL.
IT IS A GREAT BROWSER by: seeker | 3 | 2009-06-13 | | | | "Great!"
+ Secure
+ Popup Blocking
+ Downloads don't autorun & infect your PC
+ Tabs with undo (accidently close a tab?)
+ Tab recovery (If pc shutdown unexpectedly)
+ Easy to backup & import bookmarks
+ Can use IE Tab plugin to navigate with IE engine if necessary, so it still has Firefox safety features like popup blocking, etc.
+ Anti-phising filters
+ Scans downloads with AV (If installed)
+ Very customizable
+ Password filler & easy to back up this database
- Can be difficult to run portably without leaving a NEW profile, bookmarks etc on the host machine (unless you use portable Firefox or something)
- Bad for flash drives
Firefox is one of the best in features and usability in my opinion, besting Opera, Safari, & Google Chrome.
There are just things you get used to in FF that you cannot do in other browsers.
Like hold down CTRL + scroll your middle mouse button to enlarge a webpage or decrease it including the pictures...
For flash drives, recommend The World browser, or Browzar. Both are very tiny, fast, clean, simple to use, & won't wear your flash drive so badly.
Both are basically a single EXE so no worries about so many files!
Browzar automatically cleans up after you close it, although The World looks so nice!
The World can be cleaned using their inbuilt clean function, however, or possibly running CCleaner since it appears to be based on the IE engine.
My picks are:
Desktop: Firefox
Flash Drive: Browzar

Thanks for the clarification, admin.
And the official mozilla site is also updated with 3.0.11 only today.
Thanks for providing this update even before the official site could do. by: visitor | 3 | 2009-06-12 | | | | "It's current"
This release is 3.0.11. The official site has not been updated yet.
We downloaded and tested the release prior to updating the listing on our website.
The title is not misleading. by: FreewareFiles Admin | 5 | 2009-06-11 | | | | "not 3.0.11"
version 3.0.11 is not yet released at the mozilla site itself. this is a misleading title. by: visitor | 3 | 2009-06-11 | | | | ""
