I like programs that dont install in the OS, and just remain in its folder, which Infra Recorder does. And it is farely simple to use without having to learn too many new tricks to use it.

I tried some freeware apps to get rid of Nero, and I kept this great program. Absolutely stable on both CD and DVD burning, for mp3 decoding you need LAME, see the website for instructions. I have made more than 100 CDs and DVDs, with not a single waste. If you download the zip file, you don't even need an istallation. It is open source, so it gets better and better. Support this!

Didn't work properly for me. I tried to burn an audio cd but it just burnt the audio files as audio files thus wasting a cd. I may have done something wrong but I did follow the instructions. Confusing. Must be better out there.

I know it works for most system. But on my system, I met this error dialog: The active character set can not automatically detect. The registry suggest following character set: gb2312. And more serious, 3 instance of recorder interface can be induced after this. I think it is good to alarm before I find the recorded disk is not readable. On the other hand, lots of recorder has the similar problem.

A light weight multipurpous cd/dvd utility that works as well as those you pay for and is more straight forward (and useful) than crappy Roxio that came with my Dell XP system.
