"great"

For me i had no problems. Easy viewing of different channels. around two thousand channels and you can keep updating the list and get more every day. Brilliant flags to tell you if its working or duplicate or something. ability to submit and filter channels. Nothing better!!

"ActiveX issues"

I am of the few to have ActiveX related problems, even though I have triggered - for testing - Internet Explorer's Internet Security Zone criteria to ... low! I have no idea where the solution stands, but I am unable to use this software. '3' is neutral.

"Version 1"

I disable my firewall to use this-version 1.0 and have had no problems at all-if the new version runs activex then I say stay away-version 1.0 is great and safe.Looks like this new version may be ad supported-visit the authors site and go to the forums and ask....

"Oops..."

My (big) mistake, it isn't the My Computer zone, it is the Internet zone. You have to allow ActiveX to run in the Internet zone. When you load any channel, you're allowing that web site to run active content.

This doesn't sound security related to you?

Who is the "clueless" one, again?

"Let me educate some more..."

To be perfectly clear, even to people who don't know the difference between criticizing a thing and insulting a fellow human being, you need to have the "Run ActiveX Controls and Plugins" enabled in the My Computer zone to make this work. This is enabled by default. I had it disabled for added security--and it has worked well for YEARS that way. Enabling ActiveX and plugins in the My Computer zone opens you up to cross-zone vulnerabilities.

"Gee, thanks..."

"You're clueless there is no 'active content'"...

Thanks for taking my comment--which was critical of an application, not a person--and using it as the basis for a personal attack against me. Very nice of you. Obviously you are well bred.

You failed to understand my criticism. I have MSIE very well locked down and restricted. I didn't say this application was risky. The issue is it needs SOME relaxed security settings to run, relative to MY configuration, and I'm not willing to figure out which. Nor would I be willing to run with them relaxed, since it WOULD be riskier to run that way.

"Neato!"

Works well-some channels are blurry but that depends on the channel.I use a rule based firewall so I have to disable it or allow everything but that is not a problem, good job man!

"works great"

You're clueless
there is no 'active content'
that will threaten your system
it simply connects to existing
video streams offered on the
content owners websites in a single applictation

nothing more.

As for the complaint about video quality of the streams. thats not
the fault of the software.

Some of the video streams are low quality to save bandwith and enable
dialup users to veiw the content.

Check the CBC Canada streams and you will see higher quality video

============================
Wouldn't work at all for me, since it is just an MSIE front-end. I have MSIE locked down pretty tight, so it wouldn't work at all for me. No way in hell am I enabling all sorts of active content--even for the "My Computer" zone--just to run this overnight project.
