The newer versions are a huge improvement over older ones, but it still doesn't display docs every time. Then again, there's a lot of doc versions too! And they cause probs in many apps. Lack of a preview in a WP is totaly unthinkable to me. What are these guys thinking of?

"Disappointing"
I really wanted to like AbiWord. It would have been a nice alternative to larger or expensive programs, but there were too many problems.
Despite its claims, it didn't read DOC or ODT files very well at all, and crashed whenever I tried saving to ODT. Trying to open even moderately-sized Word docs (10+ pages) often caused it to crash. Trying to use a page footer in any format caused it to crash... See a pattern here?
Saving to AbiWord's native format didn't help much, and the resulting files were even bigger than the bloated ones Word produces.
All in all, a disappointing experience.

I was surprised for the editor that corresponded to the form of correspondence to two byte character and Ooo and Word to be distributed free of charge though there were a few garbles.

If you don't need an overblown Office suite that eats up precious disc space, this is for you. You can download plugins for your language, plus import tools. Tables, clipart, etc. are all catered for. Absolutely excellent- get it!
