This program has some powerful feature selections... very versatile. I just wish you could select multiple directories at for one job.

"Powerful, Fast & Totally Easy"
I just installed SyncBack on my main PC and Notebook. I easily syncronized both shared folders over my wireless network and made an additional backup of the Main PC on an external drive. The instructions weren't even used on these initial projects; I was done in 5 minutes with complete success! I use it instead of the backup software that can with my SimpleDrive external 120GB drive; it is better and less confusing in my opinion.

"Outstanding Backup"
Commercial backup programs are expensive but backing up is essential. I've tried Argentum Backup which is highly rated by PC Magazine. It works but it's a bit clunky. Plus it's Shareware and $25 to buy.
First, you should know that the Freeware version of SyncBack is *not* 4.0.4.0. That's the commercial version and it's $29.95. Surprise!
However, you can download an earlier version that *is Freeware*. It's version 3.2.8.500.
There are a few minor interface quirks (like knowing you have to use the "expert" interface if you want to use compression in any way) but beyond that it's easy to use and works very well indeed.
One other minor irritant is the fact that the program interfaces with Windows Task Scheduler to set up automated backups. This can get a touch tricky depending on your setup.
Overall, this is an outstanding program and much better than Argentum. Highly recommended!

I think Link is wrong. I just checked site today, and the freeware version is: SyncBack Freeware V3.2.8.500. It's at bottom of page. Now, maybe the shareware version is actually the freeware vers til you register...

"IT SUCKS BAD"
this program is totally alien to me should have based it on win98 version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there was 0 or - number rating this deserves it. I have used other backups but never one that has a 1000 questions instead of a basic setup then check the folders to backup and where to. Is that to much of a strech. With preloaded winXP home on my machine backup is not preloaded and suprise not on the restore cd's that came with it. Oh happy day

The hundreds of thousands of people who downloaded it and are using it without any problem must all be wrong, and Simon Smith so right. Perhaps Simon should have tried posting a sensible message to the forums instead of a nonsensical rant about how he wasn't even going to use it anyway. Perhaps he could even have submitted a support ticket? Perhaps he could even have read the message right before his asking for help on exactly the same problem? Of course not, Simon isn't a sensible Simon.

"Doesn't Work"
Couldn't get this software to work. Registered with their forum for support. Posted the fact that the software wouldn't work along with the error message I was getting and guess what- do you think I got a helpful reply? No!! They just removed my post from the forum! This tells you what kind of company they are.
Don't waste your time with this- It DOESN'T WORK!

Excellent piece of software : very flexible, very powerful with a lot of functions.
The only (natural) drawback : you may need a little time to understand all offered capacities.
Definitely a must have !
