Good:Light on system resources and most complete free AV .Antispyware, Rootkit,webscanner,IM and P2P protection detection included
Bad: proactive detection also Avast has a relatively high rate of false postives. It also requires periodic re-registration, whereas AVG Free does not.
Ugly:Don't like the Winamp media player skin style Interface looks dated.

Avast 40% and AVG 43% awarded

well i hv been using this handy program fr 7 months now....but it sometimes dont detect trojans which get thmselves embedded in the operating memory....so recommend using AVAST ANTIVIRUS alongwith MALWAREBYTES ANTIMALWARE so as to ensure complete protection to my pc. AVAST fails in detecting dangerous malwares....

"Avast been first choice for years"
Avast seems to have it all in one package - and for home/noncommercial it's ALL free.
I've installed it on my different PCs as well as my familys and even my mohers. Set it and forget it. It handles all you need (except firewall).

Comforting fequent reports of updates. Easy to use for PC illiterates, like me. Free. Much easier than previous alternatives. after almost one year nothing has gone wrong (touch wood) so it seems to be working! thanks Avast.
