Best free AV ,i also like AVG anti-spyware and AVG rootkit detector,all work fine on Vista,unlike other AV,rootkit and spyware apps which i have tested but uninstalled as they have been buggy or ate my precious little RAM.

Remember do not install more than one AV ,having Nod32 and AVG will conflict with each other and at the least slow your computer down.So why on earth does the noob (below review) want to install AVG with NOD 32?

No file or folder exclusion that caused false detection in my pc.
The file and folder exclusion is only in its commercial model.
Quite crippled for a free program.

This is what i do when AVG finds a Virus,it has found many especially from those nasty torrent sites
Firstly if AVG finds a Virus/trojan it gives you 3 options , restore,delete or quarantine.Always quarantine suspect file ( It gets sent to the virus fault,if your computer is running o.k give it a week than,healit if it won't heal remove it.If your still not sure what to do go to the AVG website/forum,the customer support is excellent.

Friends first what is the difference between free antivirus and commercial antivirus. free antivirus will detect and clean virus from our pc like the commercial versions, but a thing is that they will have poor healing capacity.lets us assume that if one of your confidential document is being infected then by using free antivirus we may delete it or send it to quarantine, but commercial versions will heal these things on approach, so only for business purpose we must need commercial versions. for home users , you use free version(at your risk). to find which antivirus is best then you shoul visit websites such as "Virusbulletin","www.icsalabs.com". bcoz these are the standard institution which ranks and comments the antivirus programs. and finally updating antivirus daily makes you less vulnerable from threats.

AVGCC runs each time a user logs in and through it you can edit various settings of the AVG system and monitor the status of individual components. The AVGCC system tray icon is multi-colored when all components are working correctly, and turns gray if there is a problem. By clicking the icon, you can open the main the windows of AVGCC.
AVG Anti-Virus also has an ADVANCED INTERFACE that gives you a nice view of the tests you can run, scheduled tasks, test results and more. This interface is more for advanced users. It takes a little while to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, you will find it logical and easy to maneuver.
The software received the ICSA 2007. AVG Anti-Virus also passed on demand and on access scanning level 1 and level 2 from West Coast Labs but did not recieve or enter the VB100%.
Free program and virus updates. AVG updates itself automatically every day. Alternatively, you can update manually or configure AVG to download updates at a scheduled time that suits you.
