"best of the freewares"
among the anti-spyware freewares, this is one of the few with a powerful real-time protection. It also has HIPS which is a big plus. There is no malware in it. It slows down the pc a bit. I've been using this for over a year now, my pc's clean so far. by: rapid | 5 | 2008-04-07 |

"v- 2.1.0.285 beta"
My opinions are based on an install without the Web Security Guard nor Clam Anti-Virus: (22.5mb installed):
On 2kpro... very impressive; Less memory draw, lower average CPU load, faster scan and a bit faster open-from-tray-icon display.
The update packages are still heavy on RAM and size (for what is actually installed).
Note that HIPS database collection takes a few minutes, initially, if enabled.
On toolbar, if desired, select Internet Protection > Immunize.
And, on toolbar, Settings-- making sure one hits Save settings for Each page changes are made on. by: mweizor | 4 | 2008-01-13 |

"Good... BUT!!!!!"
I really like this program...but its a HUGE CPU HOG!!! It takes up more CPU time than any other program I have.. including built in Vista programs!!! Its also a big Memory Hog.. I think it came in third in the amt of memory it sucks up. I really liked it and wanted to keep it, but I just can't abide that big a bite out of my PC. by: niteraven | 3 | 2008-01-06 |

"DO NOT install Crawler add-ons!"
DO NOT install Crawler add-ons that are bundled with the primary software program! It has been my sad experience that the Crawler add-ons are loaded with ad ware! The installer package will default to installing whatever add-ons are bundled with the primary program. The user will need to DE-SELECT these add-ons in the installer screens; they are sometimes very easy to blow by in the install process! With any Crawler software, you would be well advised to read each installer screen VERY CAREFULLY! Once you've installed the add-ons, GOOD LUCK in dumping them! There are no uninstaller files and you will need to work at the HDD level in order to purge the add-ons from your HDD and from your Registry! Good luck finding the add-on files on the HDD!!! Very sophisticated!!! by: farpointstation | 3 | 2007-10-22 |

"v- 2.0.0.193"
The version 1.9.(3).142[which is the same as the typo at bottom of the Author's Description page] is 3.32mb download; on same page , Freeware file displays v- 2.0.0.193 as being 4.35mb download; from the 1.9.3, i downloaded the 2.0.0.-- it was 7.66mb. Why the difference , i do not know. Anyway, I tried the Crawler Toolbar this time ( it installed at 7.53mb and the basic Spyware Terminator is 18.5mb). I didn't use it all that much , so one problem I experinced was the help/info ballon pop ups displayed IE error/could not load. This also happened when i tried to update Web Guard update. The tool bar/web guard can be deleted within the Window's Control Panel Add/Remove. I didn't try the integrated Clam anti virus with this version. So , on my 2kpro, as with the previous version, the 2.0.0.193 without the Crawler tool bar or Clam AV features, works very well for me. by: mweizor | 4 | 2007-09-17 |
