The new version of this programme seems to be plagued with problems. It's forever sending error messages or freezing. I've finally given up and uninstalled it.

yes, install the 1.05 (old one), not the 1.06 or 2007 version. The 2007 version is good but no automatic adwatch, need to buy. The 1.05 can update, got automatic adwatch.

For 2k & XP users, this may be fine.
Go to www.filehippo.com & click adaware, & select 1.05 version to download.
I know there is a 1.06 version that is newer, but it DOES NOT UPDATE, & gives an error about not being able to update. At least on my pc.
Install 1.05 & it works with win 98, I believe, & is portable, in addition to UPDATING.
Just be sure NOT to select the newer version when it says there is one, hit cancel, & get the definition update.

well ive got to say guys that ad-aware by lava soft is the best probley in the world , now ! the reason im saying this is ive used it ever since i got a pc in 1999.... i would say ive used about everyone of them '' probley and i always come back to lavea soft ,anti spyware but the only kick back on it is it really takes a lots of resources to run it ,and im still useing the old 98sec ,edition ,but ive got it all jacked up with everything i can get on it to make it run good and very very fast ;plus dsl hi-peed internet from bellsouth and im here to tell you its fast !! and i just got to thinkin one day about 6,months ago about the supposed to be grate spyware doctor software at staples and i bought it... very very exspencive too.brought it home ,and installed it ,now ! its suppsedly is to be better than lavasoft adaware ok ,and by the way im runing the comercial version of lava soft ,ok and i also installed spyware doctor . and after runing the spywrae doctor i ran the adaware ,and spywrae doctor left alkinds of spyware on my pc .so i just uninstalled that and sufferd the 70.00 loss on that crap.and thats what it is crap guys .that dam lavasoft ada-ware will get all the spyware off your pc .there arent any any better at any price ,except i cant get the new version for 98sec ,but i get every update though auto just like the newst version love it too.wouldnt swap it for all the other in the world . jt in lou,ky

this program is no antispyware at all. it simply detects cookies. even "ccleaner" would do it. to reduce the tax they have relesed this "not a " antispyware free edition.

I used to use this app some years ago. Thought I'll give it a new try. However, I found there are better apps out there, such as Spybot Search and Destroy.

Vista users should stick with a comination of AVG antispyware free and Windows Defender for the real time protection.Adaware too buggy a real nag of a program although i preferred the old Adaware version when i was using XP.

The new vrsion (2007) looks more like a promo for the commercial version, many features are disabled & there are nag screens. It's more a demoware or nagware than a freeware, and all the ads for the commercial version makes it an adware itself IMO.

Ad-Aware 2007 Free 7.0.2.5 is nothing but a promo version for the paid commercial version of Ad-Aware! This version is majorly crippled; I would hesitate to call it "lite"; "ultra-lite" would be a better description! There's no indication which functions are disabled until you elect to use them! Then you get the nag screens that really become very annoying! I ran one scan that detected mostly benign tracking cookies and not much more; I immediately opened CCleaner's uninstaller tool and registry cleanup! All gone! My personal freeware removal tool is a-squared Free which can be d/l from filehippo.com
