"Comodo Antivirus free best"
Although probably best known for its firewall, Comodo offers other free applications including this powerful anti-virus product. The software has all the features you'd expect to see including real-time and on-demand scanning, email protection and regular automatic updates. It also has HIPS (Host Intrusion Prevention Scheme), which is a firewall-like feature designed to block malware before it can install or run. You can adjust the security level this operates at, although the default Medium setting will be fine for most people.

"AVG resource hog"
Panda Cloud Antivirus better uses the power of cloud computing to scan and eliminate viruses from your PC that can identify new malware in almost real time.
Traditional anti-virus applications simply download an update from the servers on a periodic basis to keep your virus definitions scanning for the latest viruses—Cloud Antivirus uses their cloud system to do the work of classifying and scanning for new viruses, and is constantly updated with the latest virus information based on information from every other PC running the software.
The client is lightweight, taking a mere 16mb of RAM on our test system—and while it caches a copy of the definitions for offline use, it doesn't seem to take much drive space either. In testing it sucessfully found and eliminated trojans Spyware & cookies .

"Would like to see a "lighter version""
Better detection & removal than AVG 7.5 , version 8.5 has intergrated anti-spyware that version 7.5 did not have the only downside is it use more memory this can be a problem if using Vista & you only have 1 GB RAM. by: PC Darky | 4 | 2009-06-15 |

"I agree with ZXSpectrum"
I have noticed that avg tears up my downloads such as process revealer , because avg detects it as a virus. However, I found this to be a false positive just like all the other downloads of mine that it rips to pieces. I try to restore the file that avg ripped apart, but for some weird reason I couldn't get everything restored successfully. I know you can adjust the settings on how it scans, but when it does a scheduled scan it still rips up my downloads. The whole false positive thing is starting to annoy me. Don't get me wrong, I like using avg since it is safer than being sorry, but man, the false positives are killing me here. Especially, if you have a keygen, dont let avg find it before you can get to use or it will be toast and detect it as a false positive. by: jason | 4 | 2009-06-11 |

"AVG with free Linkscanner & Email Scan"
i81b4u, instead of complaining about the memory usage, you should worry about the amount of false positives detection that Avira Antvir software is reporting. False positives is another way of saying “mistake”. A false positive occurs when the program mistakenly flags an innocent file as being infected and this is very common nowadays because of “heuristic” detection method. Heuristic detection is a method that an antivirus can analyze the instructions of a program and determine if it is a virus or not. This is mainly used to detect undetectable virus or trojan by: ZXSpectrum | 4 | 2009-06-03 |

"BLOATWARE"
TO: ZXSpectrum - My PC doesn't slowdown either. I also have about 2 gig of working ram it's just I do not like software that hogs memory and has too many "bells & whistles" so to speak. Besides AVG has let trojans slip by that AVIRA has caught. So no thanks to AVG. I'll stick with AVIRA and a-Squared FREE. - Cheers by: i81b4u | 2 | 2009-06-03 |
