"Iron Browser = Spyfree Chrome"

If you want to use a browser that is almost identical to Chrome, but has no built-in spy that tracks your data, then I recommend to have a look on SRWare's Iron browser. Iron browser is open source and uses the same rendering machine as Chrome, namely Chromium. It's just like Chrome, but without the spy-on-you feature.

"For a company like Google..."

I've tried Chrome for a week. The end result is a distinct lack of enthusiasm. Few features, almost no customization (except for the wonderful opening of multipe specied web pages on startup), no support for plugins yet, and no theme support as of yet. Sadly, Chrome cannot even go fullscreen, and if it can the option is not well displayed. Furthermore if Chrome is faster than Firefox it's not by an amount significant enough to mention.

I find it difficult to believe that a company with Google's talent, imagination, and resources cannot produce a "finished" product better than this. I'd recommend sticking with Firefox until

"It's perfect (for my situation)!"

I'll start by saying that I've tried all of the major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Safari) and Firefox is still my favorite. I currently have Chrome and Firefox installed on my computer. I use them both very frequently.

Firefox is like a wife, you're committed long term because of the endless extensibility, and Chrome is like a mistress, you use it now and then because it's faster.

At home I have a dial-up internet connection, which over the years I've done anything in my power to get rid of, and upgrade to something faster, but because of my location is impossible. Today's internet is not designed for use with dial-up internet connections, there is no doubt about that. Dial-up users are trained to be patient, because they have to.

Not anymore thanks to Google Chrome, my web surfing speed and download speed has increased dramatically since I began using Google Chrome as my home browser. Averaging at about a 2.5 KB's per second download speed before using Google Chrome, that has now increased to about 3.5 KB's per second, which on dial-up is quite noticeable. Pages load very fast compared to Firefox, and the Incognito function of Google Chrome has become a must have function in many user's browsers.

I also am a college student, and the campus that I attend offers free on campus high speed wireless internet to all of it's students, which is a huge treat especially for me. When I am using wireless or any other internet connection than dial-up for that matter, I am using Firefox. I love my extensions such as AdBlock Plus, and FireGestures, and with such a high speed connection I personally do not see much of a speed difference, if any between Firefox and Google Chrome. That is my reasoning for using both browsers.

Google Chrome will get me to uninstall Firefox and switch for good when they have extensions like AdBlock plus and FireGestures available. Those extensions have become must have's with me, using AdBlock to block ads and a lot of other online content from websites, and FireGestures to add a mouse gestures function to Firefox. Mouse gestures are just so cool and makes things a lot more efficient. Call me lazy, but It's a lot easier to just right click, slide my mouse to the left a little, and release the right mouse button to navigate back to a webpage, rather than having to move my mouse all the way to the top left of the browser to click the back button, and so on. For these reasons, I keep Firefox installed, and I assume I will be for some time to come as I wait for Google Chrome to catch up to Firefox in terms of extensibility.

Google Chrome definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 for it's speed, and multi-process capabilities, and ease of use.

Note: I did run into some problems when attempting to import settings from Firefox to Google Chrome. I overlooked this setback due to the great improvement of speed with Google Chrome. I also would like Google Chrome to be more customizable, the options area of Google Chrome feels naked compared to Firefox's. Regardless, wonderful browser, and definitely perfect for dial-up users, you'll see the biggest speed improvement. People with other connections, probably not so much.

Hope this review was helpful to some, there are a lot of biased people rating Google Chrome, and beta versions of programs in general, and my intent is to inform and not criticize.

Happy browsing!

"Private Data?"

I won't use Google Chrome unless I would like to give away my private data.

"Really Good"

Simple, nearly fullscreen browser.

Does a great job overall, but nothing beats Firefox 2.0.20 at the moment.

Not Opera, not Netscape, not Safari, not even Firefox 3.

Don't get me wrong, all are great browsers, & Firefox 3 is good. But some websites that will NOT open properly in Firefox 3, somehow open great in Firefox 2.

Firefox 3 will be terrific when they fix it where it functions on all websites like Firefox 2 seems to...

Meantime, Google Chrome has a tad bit of work making the bookmarks a bit easier to use, kind of like, well, firefox!

"So far OK"

Agreed Chrome is a good browser; and I do use it for casual browsing, BUT...
when it comes to hardcore browsing, nothing, nor chrome, nor opera , nor safari ( forget IE ) can beat FF3 and its extensions.

"Firefox 2 is still the best."

Granted GC is faster than both FF and IE, but it's not very rich in features or add-ons, and since auto-logins are tied in to the user's browsing history, once yo-u delete your history, GC forgets your logins.

"Excellent Spyware!"

I suppose if I could have one piece of spyware installed, this would be the one! Chrome does a wonderful job of doing things without asking you or giving you the option of turning them off.

Actually, I believe I'll continue to stick with Firefox. It does exactly what I tell it to.
