I very nearly call it the God of media players. It is small, free, good looking, portable, and.....
Plays DVD, VCD, quicktime, real, avi, mpg, mp3, mp4 (yes, even ipod and psp video), ogg, video files in iso files like those made by dvd shrink (yes, this means I dropped an iso onto it and it played it right from the ISO, tell me what other player can do this?)
I had a hard time finding anything it WOULDN'T play. It even plays hard to play files for other video player like game files that contain audio, or the isx, isc, & raz files in the bin folder of Atmosphere Deluxe program file folder. It can also play files that are incompletely downloaded on file sharing programs with dat extensions in addition to files that are locked by other programs.
It even played an AVG antivirus update (they are in dat format). I found this out by accident when I dragged one onto it.
AVG updates are virus definition sets and are NOT music, but however, guess the content was arranged somehow, so that it was able to get about 2 seconds of audio from that 11 meg upate file?
KM Player rules! I am forced to give it a perfect 5, because not only does it play just about any audio or video file, it even plays those that are NOT!
An overlooked feature is the right click option to capture video or audio. It works great! I tried it for a friend of mine wanting to upload a vid. Vid was too long. He wanted to cut out a section. Remarkably, the output was identical in quality to the actual movie. In addition, it was smaller in size.
Other programs I used to try to edit the avi file either didn't support that format, or re-encoded it which made it 4 or 5 times bigger, even just selecting a small section of the vid.
But KM Player captures what you start & stop recording at, & it appears to clone a second copy of that section. You get the same quality as your original movie (no quality loss) AND the smaller size too.
Plus it runs on all windowz platforms. I can't find a player yet to beat this jewel.
