Why use it rather than some of the other freeware AVs that are better, such as avast? Unless every test I read is incorrect when they state that avast is better than AVG...

hey about the dicontinues part its b/c they are offering a more current version on there website, and they have also updated the interface to look a little more modern. worth checking into same great product as always

The review says all AVG FREE Versions will cease on the 15TH JAN 2007.I installed AVG FREE yesterday off a CD and updated it and it never stopped and removed the version I was using.And yesterday was the 25th January.

I previously had AVG FREE on my PC and an ad for the discontinuation of AVG FREE on JAN 15,2007,and the new releaes of AVG FREE 7.5 listed the new features on 7.5.That it was a trial version, and there would be NO Antivirus shield or e-mail shield etc on this version.If I'm wrong, my apologies.It may have said after the discontinuation, there would have been no more shield features in any free versions again...

Have used AVG for a while. Have used it to clear up other peoples computer issues. Not sure why my interface looks different then on the site.

for what it is and what it does do you cannot argue with the results. i myself am a trend micro guy. but if i was going back to freeware antivirus solutions avast or this wonderful avg is the way to go. my only big gripe about avg is the bland interface its been the same looking old windows look for years now. but for for the price tag of free you cannot argue with the results
