"to clarify"
AVG Free 7.5 is and will continue to be free. I am using it right now. As with the other versions it will even tell you when you need to upgrade to a new version. Of course 7.1 will no longer be supported. by: ohreally | 5 | 2007-01-01 |

"AVG Antivirus"
"Rumour has it...AVG FREE won't be free no more in 2007? True or false? Any one know...?"

____________
I read this very recently on AVG website too, so it appears to be true.
I have used AVG Antivirus in 2004 and 2006 and have had no problems with viruses, trojans, etc.
The manufacturers, Grisoft are bona fide beyond question and I currently am using their Antispyware software. My trial version of their Antispyware application recently expired so the software automatically reverted to freeware. Very effective, too.
When it comes to Antivirus software, I always buy these. Presently, I am using Panda Platinum Internet Suite 2007 on a 90 day trial basis. I am well pleased with this software.
Microsoft website carries a few well-known Third Party Antivirus software applications on the 90 day trial basis, including Norton Internet Security Suite. I am currently trying all of them out.

When first purchasing my pc - Nortons was installed - after 4 months and much Nortons drama, I removed it (then used the software programme disc as a frisbee) and installed AVG free. I have tried Avast also, but it really slowed my system down. I find AVG free better when compared to both Nortons and Avast on my system. by: tigereyes | 4 | 2006-11-27 |

"It helps"
It detects viruses well, andit's pretty consistent, I use this as well as spyware terminator and advanced windows *which totals saved my butt when I got infected a while back* and they are all pretty consistent with each other, Anyway, it does help me feel safe and so far, it seems to be working. by: | 4 | 2006-11-21 |

"AVG"
AVG Antivirus is one of the best freeware applicatons around. I have used it about 3 times on and off in the past up until this September.
I am currently using PC.cillin Security Suite on a 90 day trial, yet AVG's fairly new AntiSpyware software, also on a month's trial, picked up a high risk trojan yesterday, which both PC.cillin and my other Real Time antispyware, (Spyware Terminator), applications, missed.
Oddly, PC.cillin, on its own, has not yet picked up anything on any scan even after 6 weeks into the trial run, considering I scan for viruses very frequently including for spyware, etc with my other applications.
I find AVG Antivirus just as dependable as many of the bought versions. by: Ellen | 4 | 2006-11-12 |
