Tested on virus infested websites Limewire and sumotorrent although Avast scan on downloaded torrents did show torrent (exe files) as clean also some with trojan/virus, i did have a few false positives and on one occasion a Avast 'clean 'scanned exe file did install a trojan when i ran the program this was detected by Nod32 online scan (2hrs) and KAV online scan (6hrs!)too.

3rd best free AV judged on virus/trojan detection rate ..Avast comes top for it's cool winamp style media interface AVG second Avira 3rd .Spyware/Adware detection joined top AVG Avast... Avira n/a as the free version has no built in spyware/adaware detection.

avast is now the best av program in the market it surpasses avira and avg in full funtionality of a free av software!!!the two have no anti rootkits but avast have and it has a better detection rate! avast RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
