"Very reliable"
After having a 6 month old computer completely distroyed by repeated viruses sent in email (McAfee was useless), I bought a new computer in early 2000, installed AVG free edition, and what a relief! The only reason I buy new computers now is because I want to. From win98 through winXP, the automatic daily update function for AVG has worked flawlessly, and all the computers have stayed virus-free with no effort on my part. Wonderful product and I will certainly update to 7.5.

It doesn't detect hardly anything at all, leaving things that most other programs will, and updating is a pain in the ass. When it does update automatically, if it ever does, it's 99% of the time something that doesn't help with finding or eliminating viruses, which to me doesn't make any sense. If it doesn't update automatically, and you have to go to the website to download a manual update, no matter what you do, the updater will never read the file, stating that there is no update in whatever folder you place it in. Don't use this piece of crap.

I have used AVG since my son told me about it a couple of years ago. I use limewire and Morpheus alot!, and AVG has stopped sooooo many virus' that I cannot count. I have NEVER been let down. I brag to everyone I know about AVG! Thanx AVG for your best free Virus protection!

Used this for yrs. I'm a computer repairman and bought the professional and recommend others
to support Grisoft. I found that most novices and edldery cant be bothered running and paying for updates. which keeps me busy. I have never recieved a repeated call when I installed avg does that tell you something

Oh..That doesnt sound good that AVG free didn't remove the viruses...A good free software, detects trojans etc.Make sure you have set your settings to 'ignore faulty..',before you download AVG Updates.

Not Great, I tried removing 10 viruses and after a restart and a system scan again it found the same viruses. I then tested it with PC Security Test 2006 and it came up with poor results.

AVG free is very good.It doesn't slow computer has updates daily.I have tried many AV's and cannot get on with them for reasons like really slow scans that last for hours and don't even finish scanning or lock up and freeze.I have had no problems with AVG.A scan with Housecall showed no virus' so it has to work.If you want a smooth running,fast system give AVG free a try.
