Beats Norton hands down! Less management, and no expense. I have had no problems at all since using Avast! 4. All they require is re-registration every 14 months or so, but they don't ask for money, and if I had a business requirement, I wouldn't hesitate to use their Professional product. They deserve to get paid.

This is by far the best anti-virus program I have ever used. It does not slow your computer down, and updates are prompt and automatic. The (renewable) registration is exactly as stated...you fill out a short form, get a number that is good for 14 months,and there are no restrictions or unwanted contacts from them.

Installation simple, pas de conflits avec d'autres logiciels (Spyboot, A Squared entre autre qui me remplace AD Aware qui ne fonctionne plus sous WIn 98se etc.
Il manque juste une chose: Être prévenu du type du dernier fichier l'ayant fait fermer lorsqu'infecté bizarrement.
Cela, éviterait de rester près d'une demi-heure devant un écran pour agir.
Mais rien n'est parfait.
Très bon produit, mises à jour très fréquentes et... FONCTIONNE sous Win 98 et 98 SE, ce qui devient rare! Bravo.

Avast could not deal with Antivirus 2009 pop-up, i unmistakenly clicked o.k my PC was than scanned for viruses and god knows what other spyware this rogue program installed until my computer completely froze mouse nothing would not move or computer would not shutdown . Avast could not remove or realtime protection could not disable Antivirus 2009 .Thanks to my local computer repair shop who removed this rogue program and also installed AVG which he said was better i take his word for that.

"Perfection!"
I had been using AVG Antivirus for some time. I all of a sudden had a massive computer problem when I rebooted. I couldn't change simple things such as the background, and IE was maximized beyond the screen sides... Not 'full screen'. I had this strange popup asking to verify me as the computer owner - that box had a letter code it wanted me to type in. The mouse was stuck inside that box, etc... Anyway my best friend suggested Avast... I ended up clicking ok on that box and it came up several other times... I installed avast and rebooted. It found several files had been infected by a trojan in my /windows folder. After the boot scan I had to create a brand new user in windows and put that old one as 'standard user' and on this new one added admin status and added a password. Hopefully it'll all be okay now that I have Avast! Woohoo for avast saving the day!
