Though the main body seems to be fine on my system (2000pro)-- thus the rating of 2, as others have noted, it appears this relaese was premature. Are we Beta guinea pigs?... the updater seems to want to load program components for the Plus or Pro and of course the Free version won't accept them---- send them my error messages?..pay me, I didn't sign up for this.

Ad-Aware 2007 - System Requirements

Didn't retry the download center here..went to web site.. relayed to CNET.
Less the individual OS updates after main body is installed, the installed size is 18.9mb.
On OS Win2000pro, appears to work fine. Beyond not having the "legendary" real-time monitoring feature, it also does not allow custom scans (all hard drive or nothing) and no working scheduler for update nor scanning.
It is well designed and has decent content settings/options and text display. Its scan is swift and apparently now allows for more timely updates compared to its previous lump sum operation.

I've been using 1.06 for years (updated regularly from whatever it was) with the AdWatch add-on.
I see someone said use Windoze Defender.
I gotta tell ya, I never, ever, not once had Defender catch anything, andI used it since it was Giant Anti Spyware.
It was as worthless as Norton, and I spent weeks getting both out of my registry.
The only issues I have seen so far with this version is with XP-SP3, er.....I mean VISTA.
Since I won't use anything from Gates and Co. again (as in we do something else when XP dies) I won't worry about VISTA and compatibility issues.

Do not install Ad-Aware 2007 beta 7! Ad-Aware 2007 beta 7 is a 30 day commercial trial and it sucks! Unfortunately, I installed Ad-Aware 2007 beta 7 and was fortunate to create a Restore Point (XP Pro) before I ran Ad-Aware 2007 beta 7; what a nightmare I created! I crippled my OS and spend several hours restoring my machine to functionality! Install Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition v1.06 only! Download from the Freewarefiles/PlaneMirror server only; DO NOT download from the author's website! You'll thank yourself in the morning!
