"To "ITBob""
First off Bob,I am not a "noob". As you say,AVG is supposed to install the license file,I said that, didn't I? I get "invalid license" after I install it. Also, what's all this crap about uninstalling version 7.5? I never had 7.5 or any other version installed for that matter, nor did I say I did. Take the time to read my opinions properly please. And yes it did slow BOTH my laptops to a crawl when I tried it last year,yes,2 different laptops, read the reviews here & you'll find quite a few others have found the same. The slowing down has sod all to do with how much memory a program uses,it's the way AVG scans when you open stuff that causes that. You're obviously such a clever chap that you give yourself a name with "IT" in it,always a bad sign. If you wanna use AVG,go ahead,I said that as well by the way. But don't call people "noobs" when you ain't got a clue who they are or what they know. Maybe I'll start calling myself "ITDeebee". What you think,Bob? by: deebee | 1 | 2009-03-23 |

"For the noob reviewer below"
Uninstall AVG old version 7.5
(Click on Start > All Programs > AVG 8.0 > Uninstall AVG
If you experience any problems with the uninstallation procedure, please follow the steps below:
Download the latest installation file from freeware files or AVG website.
After downloading, run this file and choose the Uninstall Product option in the Select Setup Type dialog
Finish the uninstallation process and restart your computer
The license number for AVG 8.0 Free isn't available. It is automatically installed during the installation process.
You also claim AVG slows down your computer, 5,000kb of ram it takes up and you call that slowing it down?

""Invalid License""
Tried this version of AVG,(against my better judgement!),as I think it's only fair to give AVG a chance now & again to see if it will actually work for me,another waste of my time! All I get with this version is an "Invalid License" message,so it will not update. The license is filled in when you install the program,it's AVG's license isn't it? So why is it "invalid". This happened before,2 years back with AVG free. Useless if it won't update. I'll stay with Avast for now, never had a problem with Avast so far. If you can get AVG to work & it doesn't slow your PC to a crawl, then stick with it,but I can't use it as it stands. by: deebee | 1 | 2009-03-23 |

"version 8 excellent"
No problems with version 8 much improved over old version 7.5 .I always upload files flagged as malware/virus/ trojan to jotti or virus total online scanner and no false positives whatsoever with AVG 8 as files were indeed infected.

"AVG isn't good"
I have used AVG, and while yes, a plus does go towards the fact that its free, but it doesn't help.
AVG is very trigger happy. It likes to warn about a lot of files, you know false positives. I have tried other AV programs which I know work better, and they never warn me about the same files (others rarely say anything) that AVG did.
So unless you like False Positives, don't bother wasting your bandwidth! by: aldo | 1 | 2009-03-13 |

"Uninstalled Avira for AVG most complete free AV"
Kai mappi(noob) AVG is the best free most complete built in Spyware ,linkscanner email scanner and lower false positives than Avira which does NOT include Email scanner,anti-spyware and adaware protection.Signature updates are also very ... very slowww .
