It installed easily on one of my machines and definitely better than AVG ever did but works somewhat less effective than Avast in a couple of areas. It would not work at all on one of my laptops and a friend of mine had the "start menu" problem listed below. It will be a pretty good replacement for AVG if it works on your machine.

This is way better than Avast or AVG. It detects running and unknown viruses in your system and even some spyware which is great. I had a couple installation problems but when properly configured in Expert Mode can detect running and unknown viruses and some spyware.I tested it with Pc Security Test 2006 and came up with great results which were better than AVG or Avast.

i tested this program over and over and it definetly beat avg and avast..which use to be my favorites.. this program on-access scanner is second to none...and its detection rate is terrific so all that talk about email scanner really doesnt apply.. with all the options this program gives you in the advance settings it simply cnt be beat for a free antivirus

DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM! I installed Avira AntiVir running W2K; rebooted my machine and lost 75% of my Start Up Menu! I can't explain the loss of the Start Up Menu, but apparently, AntiVir deleted the Windows Start Up links. I have 12 applications start at boot-up and 3 remained after installing AntiVir! It was a real hassle to UN-install AntiVir! Of the 9 applications that AntiVir wiped out, I needed to re-install 5 apps; MSN Messenger is still screwed up! Stay away from this bad boy!

I've gone through all the free AV's out there. You may have to schedule updates for this one but it's the only one I know that stops a detected virus while you decide what to do with it, not sure if those of you complaining about the real time scanning thing have noticed that or not though [hint: you can use AVG along side most other antiviruses out there, I've tried :P same for Bitdefender Free]

Real time scanning for mail and HTTP is mandatory. NOT as you open something. Thats a bit late isn't it? Any non real time virus scanner should be passed over without a thought. Whatever the programs name is.

it's a trail program and it's demanding to be upgrade to premium and it will be active unite 30 / 11 / 2006.
as I know freewarefiles.com don't want to have any kind of trail programs to be published under it's pages.
