It's realy good... by: Asas-Eak | 4 | 2006-01-29 | | | | ""
yeah, I encounter the disconnection and file corruption issues a lot, apart from these, the program works well, it should be good, but if you're bad luck to encounter these problems above (especially file corruption issue), you're gonna hate this program. by: wgan | 3 | 2006-01-10 | | | | "Do **NOT** use this!"
Allow me to introduce to you my horror story about using this download manager.. wait, more like download massacre'rer.
I've been needing to download the latest version of OpenOffice for a long time, but I simply could not because the internet disconnects itself after an hour or so, and does NOT resume downloading afterwards.
Which is why I came to this site to find such a tool to download from whence it left off. I found this program, and was unimpressed. Said it downloaded 600% faster. A lie. It downloaded things just as slow as before.
So I began downloading OpenOffice, and was staggered to see that it would take FIVE hours to do so. Undaunted with my latest tool, I proceeded.
Just as expected my interned disconnected itself. To my amazement the program downloaded just after it left off. I did other things on the computer as it downloaded, resetting the connection every so often until, five hours later, the program finished my download.
In near-ecstasy I went to the setup file. I double-clicked in sheer joy.. only to be kicked in the nose with "THIS FILE IS CORRUPT"! My rage manifested itself with a long monologue of swearing followed with an immediate uninstall of Free Download Manager.
It is worth repeating: this program is NOT worth it Don't lose five hours of work to this dastardly fiend like I did. by: Eric Melech | 1 | 2005-12-09 | | | |
