I have been using OO for years, but when I installed MS Office 2007 BETA trial, my OO spell checker no longer works. I'll have to reinstall OO again to see if that fixes it.

It's one of the best free office suites. But the way it is being developed now, it will never be as good as Microft Office. I hoped OpenOffice would replace MS Office, but after they started using java to implemnt features I gave up all hope. Openoffice is now partly dependant on bulky and slow java. Microsoft is heading in the same direction with C# and the .dot net framework.
So all our applications are becomming huge and slow. And innovation is being stiffled with patents. We'll see where this will all end.

I've been using this for a few years - a great program, but watch out for MS Office2007. The MS Office2007 beta is hot, but I'd never pay $500 or whatever it will sell for.

Great program. MS has so many pop-ups running your computer and telling you what to do. This is a simple program and solid, no stupid side panel doing internet searches and crap, no pop-up paperclip telling you what to do... Rock solid programming and reliable.
