"Are you kidding?"
This is the only firewall I know of where you CAN NOT stop connections to homebase ( zonelabs) Whether you like it or not! A firewall with a permanent hole in it? Get wise. delete it! by: alberteinstein | 1 | 2006-07-21 |

"LAb Gone BAd"
The New Version mof ZoneAlarm has many flaws to deal with ,such as blocking of images of MSN Messenger and Problems with blocking of programs. Zone labs should have ran a beta version first to correct bugs instead of trying to stay in competition with Other Firewall products.

"Stay away"
Stay away from version 6.5.722.000.I installed it and checkdisk (thorough) will not work and XP Pro went for a toss.I could get it back only with "last known good configuration". Also Perfect Disk Defragmenter could not access C drive for offline defragmentation - message: possible driver conflict.Uninstalled 6.5.722.000 and went back to clean install of the previous version 6.1.744.001 and everything was back to normal. No further proof is needed.Be aware and be happy with the previous version atleast for the time being till Zone lab fixes this blatantly rogue version. by: Devanathan | 1 | 2006-07-02 |

"Poor"
The ZA free is really poor. I cant even check, what programs I blocked (if you accidently blocked a program...you must reinstall). Use Comodo Personal Firewall (current version 2.2.)...it passed ALL leak tests and is FREE! (lifetime free licence). It is even better than the paid version of ZA - no joking. by: MAD | 1 | 2006-06-22 |

"Poor."
The free version of ZA is very poor. You cannot even see what programs you blocked. Use Comodo personal firewall (now version 2.2)...it passed all leak tests and its FREEWARE (lifetime free licence). 1000x better than ZA (even better than ZA paid version). by: MAD | 1 | 2006-06-22 |

"Went back to old reliable Kerio 2.1.5"
I recently tried the last ZoneAlarm free version but I found the program overly bloated (a whopping 13.3 MB download) for what little this program actually does.
It also seemed to be very fussy and complex for my tastes. I mean how are we really supposed to know which arcane .exe, .dat etc file, is good or bad? The only way to find out os to get the costly pro version.
The plethora of ZoneAlarm pop-ups was also annoying as well. Anyway like I said I tried ZA and Sygate and preferred using my old Kerio Personal Firewall v2.1.5 over both of them (luckily I saved the old Kerio 2.1.5 .exe).
The Kerio firewall program was only 2.00 MB (installed) provided far more useful and easy-to-understand information in the Kerio "pop-ups" in my opinion. by: ZA - Bloatware Inc. | 2 | 2006-06-21 |

"It's still a good product"
To the previous poster, just because it will not work on the older versions of windows does not make this a product that deserves a 1. by: huh | 5 | 2006-06-19 |

"Freeware Files (asleep at the switch?)"
Why does Freeware Files list the requirements as OS: Win 9x/ME/2K/NT/XP?
The developer's website says it's NOT for installation on 9x/ME/NT operating systems. ZoneLabs website clearly states that it is only for Windows 2000 Pro/XP.
Here's the actual info from that site:
On July 11, 2006, Microsoft will end support for Windows 98, 98SE and Me, which will have the resulting effect of making these operating systems less secure. Windows 98/Me are older operating systems, and therefore inherently more vulnerable to attacks than newer operating systems.
Now that Microsoft will no longer provide security updates to this operating system it will become increasingly prone to security vulnerabilities.
Accordingly, Zone Labs will cease to support Windows 98/98SE/Me with the introduction of our version 6.5 ZoneAlarm family of products. by: Not for 9x/ME/SE/NT | 1 | 2006-06-16 |
