Fastest browser since version 3 ! by: Slick Elvis | 5 | 2008-06-19 | | | | "GREAT"
Firefox (Gran Paradiso) 3.0 is GREAT and much better than 2.4. It doesn't freeze up on saving files and is much faster. Haven't found any bugs yet. by: User | 5 | 2008-06-18 | | | | "v- 3 Final"
Ah, yes. Filehippo supplies a change log for the RC1 and this Final (thanks manly Dan)--- no RC2 or RC3, though.
For public releases, whether Beta, Canidates... or whatever they wanna call them, should be more readily supplied --- at least a direct link, like:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features/
(yes, this link works)
I look forward to trying the version 3 Final, over time and circumstances. by: mweizor | 4 | 2008-06-18 | | | | "Get a life"
For all of you moaning about the compatible add-ons, don't rate this release low b/c of it. This release is a preview and is excellent! 5/5 by: Grandmaster | 5 | 2008-06-17 | | | | "firefox 2.xx"
Firefox 3 does not support Win98se, although stated by freeware files it does, so Thank you for the update version 2.0.0.15! by: karimp | 2 | 2008-06-17 | | | | "Hit and miss"
This is a good browser, that is unless your add-ons are not compatible with this version. Still has a few kinks to be straightened out. The security isn't up to par yet. Though Mozilla will swear that it is, it's a lie. Personally, I'm going to keep Firefox 2.0.0.15 downloadable from here:
For Windows:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/ nightly/2.0.0.15-candidates/build2/firefox-2.0.0.15.en-US.win32.installer.exe
For Linux:

For Macintosh:

to the previous post go to filehippo.com and that should answer your questions. by: dan the man | 5 | 2008-06-17 | | | | "v- 3.0 RC2"
The RC1 was very good except mainly, for me, Bookmark problems and add-on items.
I haven't tried the RC2
I'm rather disappointed that they did not list , at least, the main updates (FreewareFiles either post what is given them or makes a reasonable attempt to find said info on the poster's site , as I did) --- that is, "here was the 'known problem' and ,briefly, here is what we're trying".
'Here's what's new on version 3'(compared to version2?). 3-what? What problem exactly did you'll attack? by: mweizor | 4 | 2008-06-04 | | | | "Good, but still in testing"
Firefox 3.0 RC1 has great speed performance, some new features, new memory manager called jemalloc which is evidently a great thing. However on the con side, many add-ons do not properly function and are disabled. Best advice, wait for RC2. by: TechRater101 | 3 | 2008-05-18 | | | | "Not worth it"
Firefox is the Worlds best browser thats a fact but this isnt worth downloading.
The thing that makes the Firefox great is the add ons and most of the currebt addon (or at Least the ones that i use) dont work with this RC Yet
Best to wait for the full realease. by: gelfling666 | 3 | 2008-05-17 | | | | "Excellent"
Seems to have better memory management.
Was unsure how I liked the new skin & icons, but I guess it isn't so bad.
Could probably get used to it.
For now, went back to 2.0.12. by: Junk Buster | 5 | 2008-03-05 | | | | "quite good"
Great browser becomes even better. But I don't like new look of the bookmark organizer - it's quite a mess. by: Z | 4 | 2008-02-15 | | | | "Excellent!"
Where safari falls short, that the other reviewer failed to mention, is the fact that it is hard to make portable.
Firefox, it rules for these reasons!
Built in pop-up blocking,
Built in anti-phishing,
Built in undo close tab,
Built in form filler,
Built in 1 click cleanup,
Groups of tabs can be bookmarked,
Portable,
Very customizable,
Free,
Easy to use,
....
For portable browsing, I actually use Browzar. It is free, auto cleans after itself after you close it, & the windows skin is the smallest of the 3 at 210 kb.
It is the smallest browser that cleans up after itself (great for portable drives since the more smaller files you have to read or write from a drive, the slower & more wear your drive has)
For a pc, love FIREFOX!!!
It is also more secure than IE, & if your pc reboots while your on Firefox, it offers to restore the last session on next load... (Hint, if firefox does (rarely) lock up & use 100% processing, can use this to your advantage... Just open task manager, don't kill the program since you can have groups of tabs open, but go to the process tab & kill the firefox process. Run ccleaner, then reload firefox & let it open all your tabs again since it "crashed".)
In addition, you cannot uninstall & reinstall IE if things go wrong. Firefox, you can.
If you still have problems, you can fix firefox a number of ways. Run it in the safemode shortcut on the startmenu provided on install, or go to start and type in %appdata% & enter & look for mozilla firefox.
Open the folder, copy your bookmarks.html & your extensions, whatever you are needing from there to another folder, then delete that folder & when you reinstall firefox, all the settings are back to default.
You can also run the config command in FF which may be harder for ordinary users.
Browzar can set your default homepage to google, & as that is stored in your application data folder as well in a folder called brozar, used winrar version 3.70 to make a silent SFX to dump the google page to the app data folder.
I then used the iexpress found on your own pc to run the first file that dumps it to the app directory, then run the second one that loads browzar. Of course, silently. The nice thing about iexpress is being able to bundle multiple .exe into 1 & the fact it runs them in the order you specify. It can also run commands such as system restore, or run .ini or .inf installer files.
Next, I packaged that into a silent SFX once more in winrar & used icon sushi to grab the icon from browzar.
Use 32 height, by 32 width by 32 bit color if possible, or the closest to it.
Icon sushi does a higher quality grab than many free programs & is also free.
I then bundled the icon to the exe with win rar using its browse for icon function. The total size still came up to about 316 k, which is a lot smaller than any other browser you will be able to make portable, & it supports tabs as well as cleaning all tracks after you close it.
Remember though, that the average person won't be able to find it, but data recovery programs such as pandora recovery or recuva will still be able to find many of these unless the files either get overwritten or cleaned with a program like eraser.
Eraser is free, recuva is free, pandora recovery, browzar, firefox, ccleaner are also free.
Don't do anything you wouldn't want anyone to find, because in addition, pro data recovery services can many times read a little to the left or right of a track that has been "wiped" and find enough of a ghost image to tell enough about what has been there to still produce evidence.
These modes are built into many drives, but usually not accessible by the average person.
Oh, P.S., firefox is great for wallpaper sites! Right-click + t on a link to open it in a new tab in the background, & ctrl + w to close tabs. Backspace to go back on a page, or shift + backspace to return. Right-click on a tab & undo close tab to recover a previously accidently closed tab if needed.
The only improvements I see that Firefox can make, are we do need an easy way on the very top toolbar beside help to check or uncheckmark the options to load flash, shockwave, or java.
The reason is, there are annoying ads like coke now, that insist on taking up half the page whether you mouse near them or not, & causing you to not be able to click anything until their ads go away.
Some sites need flash, but on sites that don't, this will kill 99% of the new ads we get. by: Junk Buster | 5 | 2008-02-13 | | | | "ok.."
Now that safari is out for windows, this isnt the fasted browser anymore lol. Id still recommend it tho, it is more customizeable than ANY other browser. by: Magmon | 4 | 2008-02-12 | | | | "sweet"
