"An outstanding free office suite"
If you need the word processing power (and compatibility) of Microsoft Word, but you want it for free, get OpenOffice! OpenOffice is an office suite that does pretty much everything that MS Office does -- and you can even save your documents in Office-compatible formats. To be sure it's not 100% Office-compatible (I'd say it handles about 95% of Office's formatting very well). So, if you have complex MS Office documents to edit, doing so in OpenOffice will result in a few (very few) formatting oddities. However, if your Word docs are not so complex in their formatting, OpenOffice's performance with them will invariably be flawless. Give OpenOffice a try. There's a good chance that, after you do, you'll dump Microsoft Office entirely. by: CharlieOrlando | 5 | 2006-05-18 |

"Get this now!"
OpenOffice 2.0 has to be the biggest software no-brainer in history. You can spend $400 on MS Office 2003 Standard, or download OOo for free, and use it on as many computers as you like. They accomplish most of the same tasks, and in some ways OpenOffice can do them better. Word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, vector drawings, and databases... all at no cost! I have a legal and functional copy of MS Office 2003 Pro, but I like OpenOffice better, if that tells you anything. by: Mojo | 5 | 2006-03-15 |

"DataBase works at last!!"
This is the first version (2.02 RC2) where the DataBase Forms work as advertised. It's still the slowest loading Application on my system, but a tad faster than previous vestions.
All things considered, this has to be the best Office Suite around.
(runner up is Ability Office IMHO) by: John-e34 | 5 | 2006-02-22 |
