after installing 1.5 i notice the built-in shredder feature was remove now
i will have to find a 3rd party shredder
software.
as far as the teatimer during install
i think you have the option to uncheck
this feature.
as for me firefox has not slow down and
i have too notice the floppy drive being
scan (dont know about external floppy) during opening s.&d. and after updates
are installed. should be a way to turn
the scan off.
hopefully spybot will fix most of these
problems/issues that people are having
with this new version later on .

"v1.5.1.15 final should be still beta."
Prefer the 1.4 version.Advanced mode showed valid programs as red malware/spyware,system internals dangerous don't fix anything,tea timer buggy as ever.

I have used SS&D for years and it is one of the best. However, this new release still has some issues. Teatimer keeps causing problems ... lockups, invalid page faults etc. I would STRONGLY suggest that you stick with Ver. 1.4 untill these problems are taken care of.

installed latest version and for some reason it slowed firefox down to a crawl. version 1.4 is fine with no probs so reinstalled that and everything is fine again.hence reason why marking it down.

Good software.
Can be improved by speeding up scan times. Maybe a little sleeker & simpler skin with a simple Scan, Update, & Options button on it.
Could also help by taking out that section of updates that make it check for you have your firewall turned off, or no av protection etc, I know what I do on my pc, & to be alerted over senseless things like that is pathetic, since I do use an antivirus & do have a firewall.
Pros: Excellent malware scanning, free
Cons: Too many buttons on skin, since everything you need could be simplified to Scan, Update, & Options
Slow scanning
Scans for useless fluff that a good program like CCleaner removes anyway.

"Spybot - Search and Destroy v1.5.1.13 Beta"
The 1.5+ version now always scans the *A* (3.5 floppy) Drive when the program first opens, when it's checking for new updates and also after it finishes loading updates, which is very weird.
What has happened to Spybot S&D? It "used to be" one of the very best spyware scanning/removal tools out there, but alas, over the past year it has sadly deteriorated into a mediocre program that takes at least 30 mins to scan an average PC!
This program is good for all of the lazy netizens (you know who you are) who *never* manually clean any temp files, cookies, or do any other type of cleaning to their systems. This tool at least helps, but it hasn't found anything on my PC for well over a year, while other program (like Spyware Terminator) have.
Rest in peace Spybot. Your effectiveness has expired.

Scanning engine seems to be improved, updates section has been expanded and updates seem to load quicker than in v1.4, but for some strange reason, v1.5 scans the 'A' drive (3.5 floppy) whenever the program first opens, as well as each time you check for updates?! Not quite sure why, but perhaps this has something to do with the "improved" scanning engine.
Still, it's a good program overall and seems to quite stable for a beta version.
