 | "Not convinced" I gave Dr Alex a bit of a trial and I'm not convinced by it.
Dr Alex consistently failed to pick up spyware/adware that both Ad-Aware and Spybot picked up.
Also, it doesn't seem to update.
Personally I think Ad-Aware, Spybot and Spyblaster will see you right.

 | "31 viruses and no spyware detection??" Install Internet Security software like Trend Micro PCillin,or bit defender 2008 and they'll tell you to remove Dr.Alex because it has hidden malicious content. And when you update and scan with it,it should detect a trojan/mal ware named 'bit rose'.I believe it's prebuilt in the software.

 | "v- 2.06" This poor little maligned program
A victim of false-positives by A-squared (and AVG, says a poster) and hpHosts source.
It doesn't collect (so can't/won't) share any user info, only connects for manual updates, doesn't give false-positives (to what end?, it doesn't even have a pay-for model to shill) and no adware.
Besides, Avast, Spyware-Net and a bevy of other freeware sites with their own review processes found nothing.
And, whatever the program, if you find a TROJAN !!!! or whatnot, how about being specific.
As to the program performance; I don't think its database is all that extensive nor is its scan that deep.
Its installed size is 6.82mb, scans at less than 50% CPU and a little fat on the memory.
Simple but good, 2.5 to 3

 | "simple" its simple alright. looks as if it was deigned, tested and put out on someones lunch break. it may have a large database but thats its only reason for scoring any points.

 | "not bad" i tried it out and found it fine. it has no malware, spyware or anything else loaded in it. it did remove a few trojans that spybot seemed to miss. i usually use spybot but i find the scan is too long and burns a lot of cpu. this dosent and i will continue to use it and review it again in a few months.

 | "DrAlex doesn't have spyware" I found out that a-squared detects DrAlex as malware just by path. that is not correct and doesn't mean that it is really malware

 | "" I scanned this program on http://virusscan.jotti.org, where 21 antivirus programs are used including a-squared that Gaio Cherelis mentioned, and they didn't detect any problem. so i can say for sure that Dr Alex is good, fast, safe and free. thanks to creators
