"Go get A2 AntiMalware..."

Used this,not bad,but if I rightly recall,'Start Up Mechanic 2X.' showed a viral history in its 'Harmful' section.

i wouldnt rate it as a "must have" , maybe a "must have if you want problems with your op system" im always nervous with comodo programs and woud advise people who are not tech minded to give them a miss! this still needs a lot of work and would take sum time to explain. however if you know what you are doing then probably worth a go.

"v- 4.26"

You can view the updates at: http://www.comodo.com/boclean/supboc.html#boc426

The install went fine , until the update part;
got a couple of "blunk" sounds (or whatever your wavs may be) with an obscured pop up until the update was finished.
Restarted pc, got another "blunk" sound but no pop up, before Windows closed;
after reboot got a pop up "the file boc426.xvu is corrupted" --- redo the update;
ran the start menu> comodo updater;
got a "blunk" , no pop up but it was downloading:
after it was done, nothing happened so I just opened the program from the start menu.
Soo, now it's ok --- tray icon and all.
Reviewed the Configure Boclean module...

Anyhoo, it installs at 796kb.
The Boc426.exe uses about 13mb RAM and 51mb virtual memory.
Draws about 28% CPU every 8 seconds for about 1 second, on my system and with 2kpro.
I'll try it for a while, see how/if it fits my present defensive azzemblage... not sure if I like those CPU spikes or rather have lower, continual draw ,or, the program at all.

"BOClean"

BOClean is a great product. Just install it, set it and forget it. It runs basically unattended. You don't even know it is there. Best of all, it's free (cost was $39.95)

"v- 4.24"

Very good program... been running it for a few months. Of the few mentioned "problems", they can be addressed and rectified via the Configuration settings. But be it as it may, I have not had any ill-affects. I particularly like its conflict-free background monitoring --- that and its small size is worth the afforded room.

"Would be great...if it didn't suck"

Watch out for the "automatic cleanup" options. I've had false positives that resulted in ALL my "Downloaded Program Files" files being removed, and my Winsock settings blown away.

When "Downloaded Program Files" is "cleaned", all it does is empty the folder. It doesn't clean up the registry, or do anything cleanly or properly. So, if you use an online scanner like Kaspersky or whatever, you'll have to screw around adding the software back in, and sometimes (as in my case), it won't install because the registry and folder don't agree with each other.

And regarding the Winsock settings--some software totally relies on them for security and/or other features. As one important example, NOD32 uses Winsock to scan HTTP and POP3 traffic. When this BOClean crapware blows your Winsock away mindlessly, NOD32 won't work unless/until it resets itself (which it can be configured to TRY to do).

BOClean has its undying fanboys, but I couldn't care less. The author of BOClean gets no respect from me. Their support has always sucked from my perspective--all he ever tried to do is blind me with science, blathering out psychobabble he hoped would confuse me and get me to effectively say "If you say so".
