by: Sulla Felix | 1 | 2008-05-26 | | | | "Awful" Seems like someone from Ad-Aware must have read my previous entry & now block the 1.05 version as well from updates.
No problem, just search the web for 1.04 or older versions, & download the latest updates.
If all else fails, just majorgeeks.com & download the update file manually to drop in the folder.
Where there is a will, there is a way, & no, they will NEVER "force" me to update to the newer, slower, buggier, XP/2k only version, non-portable version....
Are you listening Lavasoft? We don't care! We just want the ease, portability, simplicity back.
Is this too much to ask?
If it is, I already got another company's product right ready to use!
by: Junk Buster | 5 | 2008-05-22 | | | | "Awful piece of garbage!!!" Users are forced to install this version, use the adaware service.
Do you want to get a lightweight Ad-Aware, with updated definitions that you can still run portably?
Go to filehippo.com, & forget about using Ad-Aware 1.06, since it is blocked from receiving updates.
Choose instead, the one that says version 1.05. It is NOT blocked and can STILL get the latest updates.
Great news for people who need portable, free, anti-malware with updated definitions. Just be sure to uncheck the "did you know there is a newer version 1.06, click here to download it" when you click update definitions, then click update and you are good to go!!!!
by: Junk Buster | 1 | 2008-05-01 | | | | "Same Fate" Unless its makers do a more decent job, Ad-Aware is likely to go the way of Spybot - derided and shunned by those who once praised it to high heavens. In the meantime, other anti-spyware programs are getting better and better and people will use their freeware versions even without real-time protection.
by: JohnJohn | 1 | 2008-04-30 | | | | "ohhhhh yeah" Big difference - it now says 2008. Last year it said 2007.
