"Brilliant"
Excellent work Avast, I have used your software for years and never had a problem. Great new interface, I tried MS Security Essentials but it slowed my laptop to a crawl so came back to Avast and Windows Defender. I will remain loyal next time. Thanks again Avast team.

Fussy interface not user friendly needs a stupid key to register like Avira. MSE & MBAM combined are far superior better user friendly excellent detection and no false positives unlike Avast AVG and Avira.

the guys at Alwil are doing a great job. this is still a beta but it runs smooth and lighter on system resources. also, the interface has become a lot better than the old winamp style. now it looks good!

"great look...great features, but LOUD"
I just recently downloaded this, and I must say I like it a lot. I have been a faithful user of AVG, but decided to try Avast due to their Malware percentage. Overall the look and feel is much nicer. Neat feature where you can disable your protection for a time period if you need to install etc, and will auto restart. Only complaint so far, is if a threat is thought to be discovered, it pops up a window and depending on your volume, squaks (star trekish) WARNING, a threat has been discovered...or something close. I do believe this is configurable, but kinda loud.

"Avast Ver. 5"
I tried this newest version and really like the new GUI. I have a feeling that the last reviewer went to the Avast site and downloaded the non-beta version 4. It has a whole new interface, and the winamp interface is gone. There are many new features in the latest version. How ever I have to say the older version could be used without the winamp interface. Do a search for Avasts Version 5 and see if it's what your looking for.

There are tons of better program than avast!. Seriously, how some anti-virus can be good when it looks like a Winamp skin?

Microsoft Security Essentials best free much improved over Windows OneCare without the bloat excellent user friendly interface lower RAM use than even my fav Nod 32 .
avcomparatives may 2009 Windows One care came top best proactive detection 60% Nod 32 56% Kaspersky 50% .Windows Essential Security is free no false positive issues no nag screens asking you to upgrade to paid version

Good detection rate most complete free anti virus program but the worst most user unfriendly cluttered interface ,would prefer i nice clean user friendly interface like Nod32's or even AVG interface is slick compared to Avasts .

Too many windows to open to get information,showing demo mode Avast asking for serial,Windows does not recognize Avast warning me i have no antivirus installed ,too many problems reinstalling AVG soo much user friendly no serial needed
