"IT WORKS, JUST NIGGLY"
I used this program on XP Home, then Pro as well. After installation, I had to create a shortcut on the desktop for the configuration panel, but it managed to run all my screensavers, even some that did not work before! The program itself uses very little resources, but can be inclined to freeze every once in a while, but on the whole is a gem!

when I right click on my desktop and choose vital desktop and then choose start vitality it does not do any thing!

It does work, though its buggy.
also it wont work with every ss. it might sometimes say "problems opening screensaver" and even in the config dialog (which you have to open from install path, right clickin tray icon brings up desktop config dialog) it puts "if u cant see the preview probably that ss wont work" etc etc
on the other hand, machine resource usage its pretty low, plus the needed for the ss to work, which is excellent. its too bad this project is abandoned. however last update was in 2006-
my advice: try the slick ss posted on vd site or if u want try something else, get drempels or zmatrix---
other workin ss: particle fire, free fire ss, nostalgic ss.

All reviews changed from great to nogo on May 23 06. Maybe some windows update screwed it up. Perhaps the author isn't keeping it up to date. All it did was make my wallpaper vanish. But I did have something like this back in '97 and it was really cool.

Well, I can't get Vital Desktop 1.41 to work on my Windows XP SP2 system. Bummer. The previous version of Vital Desktop worked almost perfectly -- but this new one clearly has some problems. After installing it, I couldn't find the Vital Desktop tabs that are supposed to show up in the Windows "Display" dialog box. Likewise, right-clicking on my desktop produced a context menu with all of the Vital Desktop functions -- but the one to turn on Vital Desktop wouldn't work. So, I've removed Vital Desktop 1.41 from my computer. I suggest that, if you find you are having similiar problems, uninstall it and wait for the next version to come out...

I installed it, and ran it. Nothing happened. So I went to the installation folder, and ran the configuration program directly. It froze up.
Nice stuff. If you like crapware, that is.

It works incredibly well and is very stable. Be sure to have the PC power to run the saver, but well worth it! I use Particle Fire by LDA for a mesmerizing desktop!
